No two cancers are alike. The Weiner Lab personalizes prostate cancer treatment by studying each patient's unique tumor biology, so the right patient gets the right treatment at the right time. This work runs almost entirely on competitive grants and the generosity of patients and families.
Every project in this lab is aimed at a single question: how do we get every man with prostate cancer the right treatment at the right time?
Prostate cancer cells differ from healthy cells in specific, exploitable ways. Our lab is designing a new generation of targeted therapies that attack cancer cells while leaving healthy tissue alone, aiming for treatments that are more effective and easier on patients.
Thousands of prostate cancer patients get PSMA PET scans each year, but not every cancer lights up on these scans. We are studying what PET visibility reveals about a tumor's biology and which treatments will work best for each patient.
Prostate cancer changes after treatment, and those changes are often what allow it to come back. By mapping how tumors evolve, we are identifying the vulnerabilities that can be targeted to stop recurrence before it starts.
Gifts to Dr. Weiner's lab support the science directly. Contributions of any size make a real difference, and every one is deeply appreciated.
Fund the lab supplies, reagents, equipment time, PSMA PET data, and computing power that let us test new ideas and turn promising hypotheses into published findings.
Support the salaries of graduate students, research assistants, and postdoctoral fellows learning to tackle prostate cancer. They are the hands behind every experiment.
Bridge the gap between grant cycles so promising work does not have to wait. Federal grants take years to land. Philanthropy can move in days.
The lab's research is competitively funded by the field's most respected organizations. Philanthropic gifts ride alongside this support and unlock the early-stage ideas grants cannot reach.
Plus the Donna and Jesse Garber Early Career Mentored Award from Cedars-Sinai.
Gifts of every size make a difference. Larger gifts can be directed toward specific research priorities, named funds, or endowed programs.
